Here's my interpretation.





The quote is from "Riding in Cars With Boys".. I"ve used it before but it's so wonderful I couldn't help but use it again. I misted the background with glimmer mist (what is with those things clogging like it's their job??) and the boy and girl chipcoard pieces that I misted over are from Maya Road. Any questions feel free to ask :)

the creative type is back in full swing!

Two pieces of exciting news... ONE ... The Creative Type is back in action and I've signed on for another season of challenges & play :) TWO... We are currenly running a design team call! So many wonderful scrapbookers and art journalers are blog readers... why not give it a whirl?! You wouldn't believe the talent residing on this team... Check it out here. I would love to see you all play along!!

This month's prompt was to lift a fellow DT member, and here's my layout and description...

I am in awe of EVERY member of our DT, but I chose to lift someone new-- Steph from living room floor. I think she's fantastic! You can see her original layout here. I started with white cardstock, layered some patterned paper along with my photo, then added small heart stickers. I misted the background with Ranger inks. Then (after the mist was *pretty* dry) I pulled off the heart stickers. I added the letter stickers to the bottom. For the "united", I handcut a title out of white cardstock. When I added it to my layout, it didn't seem to *pop* enough off the page (I wanted it to be a really bright white) so I painted over it carefully with a generous amount of gesso. Voila! Layout took me about 15 minutes... you can totally do this! :)

i am a big fan of creative type.

not just creative type, but The Creative Type. there are so many fantasticly crafty girls over there, and SO much inspiration. if you have a few (?) minutes, go on over and take a look... you're sure to be inspired... and if you're scrappy yourself, join in the fun! we have super fun prizes with every challenge.

okay, plug over. the last challenge was to make a layout that was fun, comic related or humorous, or colorful, kind of 'out-there'. i had an owl kit from RVA and i chose to use this fun owl illustration and create a layout featuring my own (large and growing) owl collection.

note: scanner still broken, mom is holding the layout up for photos. :)

i used some mist and random ampersand stickers for the background. an actual polaroid photo for the journaling block, and lyrics from this great song.

playing catch up: scrapbook edition.

soo.. i never posted my goals for 2010! i'm not doing great in the way of goal-keeping, but i did learn how to crochet a granny square. so that's a plus. anyway, february is a new month today is a new day.

i've also been behind in posting my layouts for the creative type. thank god i finally made some time last night to sit down and scrap. the first challenge is "go netural".  i couldn't resist to add that splash of green under the title. :) song lyrics by JJ Heller (check out the playlist on my sidebar).



the second challenge was "type on embellishments". i stamped the word "Art" and the camera image over some ribbon i had laying around. these challenges are so inspiring- the layouts were really simple to make but i love the results.



gotta go back to waiting for my flight to arrive so i can go home for a long weekend. yay! :)

i have been chatting back and forth with the girls from The Creative Type, as i was guest designing this month... long short story short... they asked me to join the team! :)

it's been quite some time since i've been on a design team of any sort, and i'm excited to get back in the game. you know, the one where we throw yarnballs instead of baseballs. and have board moderators instead of referees, and end up in the hospital not (usually) because you got tackled too hard, but because you crop-a-diled your fingers together! ha! (it's late and i'm very tired.)

anyway, here's what i made for the challenge, and you can expect much more fun stuff to come! yay! :)
